Hurricane Gustave 2008 slams into Jamaica – Live Disaster report

Even though hurrican Gustave ravages the country, people in Jamaica still have the presence of mind to upload videos to the internet, giving a constant feed of footage out of the island. Anyone who has electricity and a connection to the internet can search Youtube for live footage of accidents, damage, and video clips of the wind destroying buildings, almost “Live”. ApressJamaica congratulates Jamaicans and encourages them to keep the faith and keep uploading that footage. To Jamaicans living abroad, it may be the only way you can get up – to – date information about the state of affairs in this Disasterous time.

Jamaican artists do songs for the olympic athletes

Jamaican recording artist G Whizz is the latest in a line of recording artists to do songs dedicated to the Jamaican track and field athletes who performed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Other artists on this list include Wayne Marshall and L.A. Lewis.

Jamaican artists are usually renown for how quickly they can put together whole projects in times of extreme crisis, for example the song “Wild gilbert” by lovindeer, the hurricane had swept through the island and while many jamaicans were still only able to use battery operated radios to keep in touch with the media the song hit the scene and was a smash hit.

What is uncanny about the G whizz song however is how well the lyrics have been constructed around the events of the games, in less than two days G Whizz and his production team at Fams HOUSE Studio was able to slap together lyrics, music, recording and even a neat little video, and the song isn’t half bad either!

Micheal Johnson eats his comments on Usain Bolt

We found an intervew Micheal Johnson did ater Usain bolt won gold in the 100 meter dash, where he says that he doesn’t think Usain Bolt will do as well in the 200 meter race as he did in the 100 meter, he also said that he didn’t think Usain would break the olympics record, much less the world record. It would be interest ing to see what he has to say on the matter now that Usain has not only won the race but also shattered both the Olympic and gold records both held up until today by Micheal Johnson.

The officials at the Beijng olympics are stunned as a review of the super high speed intant replay footage reveals that there was a tie for second place. Contrary to initial reports, Jamaica has actually claimed gold, silver, and silver.

St. Thomas car bomb: Bomber identified

Information obtained by our news centre revealed that the St. Thomas [Jamaica] bomb attack was aimed at a businessman who operates a store in Morant Bay. It is understood that at about 7am Tuesday, the businessman received a call from persons who demanded $500,000. The persons threatened to bomb the businessman’s home, business and car if he refused to pay the ransom. Later in the day, the businessman received a text message in which someone demanded US$6,000. The person identified himself as Abdullah Akbar.

The businessman later received a call from someone who told him to go to his vehicle to collect a package. The businessman reportedly sent someone to check out the vehicle, but the person did not find anything strange.

About 1pm, a loud explosion was heard in front of the store. Our sources said an explosive device was planted under the businessman’s vehicle.

St. Thomas car bombing JAMAICA car bomb

This just in: reports are that an Arab terrorist is responsible for a car bombing in St. Thomas Jamaica early this morning, it is believed that the motive was in fact extortion. It has not yet been confirmed if any one was killed in the blast although debris from the explosion injured two passer-bys.

Reports are sketchy at this time but it is not yet believed that the act was linked to any international terrorist organization or Al Qaeda.
